"For those who think Joe Hart not having a cap yesterday WASN'T a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I suggest you think again"

Yeah, I've had a good think about this again, and it really isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Blokes who aren't teenagers who wear baseball caps is more of a bigger deal for me, if I'm honest. They look ridiculous.

Would a Shrewsbury fan have given him a cap? Doubt it.

Shoot on sight.

For those who think Joe Hart not having a cap yesterday WASN'T a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I suggest you think again. Just because it was Shrewsbury away doesn't make Hart look any less stupid.

I think that was a highly unprofessional piece of behaviour; it's worse still when you consider he warmed up before the game and still didn't think he needed a cap.

That's a lack of preparedness that could have caused us to let in goals. Not acceptable.

Didn't used to happen when he played alongside James Milliner.

Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
Don't know if the fact he didn't have cap with him is that important but I do think it might be symptomatic of lazy or lack of thinking within the club.

It would be interesting to know who won the toss yesterday and if we did, did we choose which end or to kick off.

When at home we always go to the same end which incidentally means that when the sun is out we always will be looking into to it.

Maybe not a big deal but at high level sport small margins can make a difference,

Well apparently he might be leaving.
So this tragedy will be soon be behind us.

Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
Bigger things to worry about from yesterday. Like a couple of others have already mentioned, it worried me that Hart parried a couple of shots towards the centre of the penalty area. A couple of years ago he would have been holding onto those.

FFS
We are worrying about a goalkeeper wearing a cap.
Agree with smartkev...how the fuck this is our biggest worry god only knows.
For the record thought Hart looked good yesterday and the stick he has had on here has been ridiculous. He has been made the scapegoat for the shit we served up earlier in the season.

It's a concern, but it's hardly the greatest of our worries is it? I'm much more worried about why we couldn't muster up one decent attempt on goal, why most of the first team played like shit, why we had to throw Burke and Cullen into the team and why we don't seem to be making any progress with signing badly needed new players.

Also not sure why you got 'not a problem at all' from what I just typed, where i said it was piss poor that there was neither one given to Hart or even available.

It's my opinion, whether you agree with it or not, that a cap for the goalkeeper is a minor problem compared to many others the club is currently facing and I don't really see the need to start a thread about it.

Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
No Scorchio, it is a problem he wasn't prepared as it smacks of a shambolic set up.

If they can't get something as simple as ensuring there is a cap available, this is a symptom of wider issues.

You're also not just trying to absolve Hart of blame, you're trying to say it's not a problem at all. Which it is.

If you're just trying to absolve Hart, that's a different discussion. But comes back to the lack of professionalism anyway.

It's a non story in the context that we have far bigger things to worry about. Given everything else surrounding the club and even in that match it seems nitpicky. Deckchairs on the Titanic stuff. Had Hart not had a cap all half and they'd scored as a result then it's a big problem.

As it happens I agree it's piss poor the kit man didn't as a matter of course put one in his hand or leave one in the goalmouth prior to the game and even worse that there allegedly wasn't even one available, but I'm not going to lay the blame for there being no cap on Joe Hart as the opening post seems to be.

SnarestoneIron 1:14 Mon Jan 8
Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
Surely, he should not be relying on the kip man for a cap? Personal preference, head size etc would say you'd have your own. I know it's not need very often but...

Johnson 1:13 Mon Jan 8
Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
Yes, it's a non-story a supposed Premierleague outfit isn't prepared for a game properly, Scorchio?

Why do people insist on making excuses for or ignoring poor performance/preparation?

Re: Joe Hart: no cap or no brain?
i'd say he got extremely lucky when he parried toward the penalty spot, any other day, there would have been an oppo there to slot that away, shit keeper end of
